More than a hundred young riders found themselves under the spotlight on Saturday night when Subang Jaya police teamed up with Selangor’s traffic unit for a major motorcycle crackdown along the Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong.
Held just before midnight at the Batu 13 Puchong Toll Plaza, the operation, known as OP Motorsikal brought together 11 senior officers and 107 personnel from JSPT Selangor, IPD Subang Jaya, IPD Serdang and several nearby stations.
Police checked 120 people and 115 motorcycles, issuing 56 summonses for various offences ranging from missing licences to modified exhausts.
But the bigger concern? Dangerous behaviour.
One rider was caught riding under the influence of alcohol, and four others were arrested for reckless and dangerous riding — actions that police say could easily cost lives in seconds. Fourteen motorcycles were also seized for illegal modifications or for not having proper licences.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said they’re not out to punish for the sake of punishing — the aim is to keep young riders alive.
Wan Azlan urged parents, guardians and teens themselves to stay alert, avoid risky stunts or late-night “lepak and ride” sessions that can quickly escalate into illegal racing.
“Don’t gamble with your life,” he reminded. “One wrong move on the road doesn’t just affect you — it affects everyone around you.”
