SMK USJ 8 Food Bank Receives Year-Long Sponsorship

NEEDY students of Sekolah Kebangsaan USJ8 will have 12-months of continuous supply of non-perishable food items to help supplement their diet at home.

The school’s Food Bank, known as Gerobok Kasih, received a significant boost thanks to a generous sponsorship from Dato’ Peppe Foo who pledged RM1,000 per month for 12 months to support the food bank’s operations, in memory of his late wife, Datin Elsie Foo.

Gerobok Kasih was established earlier this year as a joint initiative between the school administration, the school’s Leo Club and the Lions Club of Subang Jaya, of which Dato’ Peppe is a senior and active member. The food bank is well-stocked with essential non-perishable items such as rice, canned food, biscuits, flour, and sugar, providing vital support to vulnerable families of the school.

The sponsorship will provide the food bank with much-needed funds to replenish its supplies, ensuring that it can continue to assist students and their families who are facing financial hardship.

School headmaster, Rozhan Zakaria, expressed the school’s sincere gratitude for Dato’ Peppe’s generosity, stating that the funds will be used to purchase nutritious food items for those in need.

In addition to the sponsorship, Duopharma Consumer Healthcare has donated several hundred bottles of Vitamin C to the food bank. These vitamins have been distributed to students, who can take them home to share with their families as well.
