It’s now 38 days since we’ve all stayed home in the joint effort to fight Covid-19. The Movement Control Order which was first implemented on March 18 2020 has restricted our movement in a bid to bring down the curve of infection from the “invisible” virus.
Sixteen-year-old Sophia Yee is getting bored after having to ensure the movement control order for over a month now. She’s trying to keep herself busy by trying out new cooking recipes and even cooking up meals for her family. This self-confessed junk food junkie tells us a bit more about her MCO days:
How are you coping with the MCO? What are you doing to keep your time occupied?
I was happy to be honest, but starting from phase 3 I’ve been getting bored of it. I tend to spend my time playing games or completing my homework. Sometimes, I learn Japanese at least three times a week!
Are you happy to get more time to spend with the family? Tell us how you are doing this?
I am! Our conversations are livelier; we spend time together by learning new baking or cooking recipes!
I haven’t discovered new hobbies yet. On the bright side, I’ve been trying new cooking recipes for my family and they love it!
How are you keeping fit and alert at home? Have you gained weight?
I have zero clues on keeping myself fit. I tend to eat junk food at least once every two days, so I probably should have gained by now, huhu.
How are you keeping abreast with the news on Covid-19 and MCO?
My parents tend to keep us updated with the news. Sometimes, I would scroll through social media to check if there are any updates.
What’s your advise to everyone?
If you’re bored, try something new! Learn to cook good food and you won’t regret this.
