SS18 residents have embarked on a pilot project to engage paid security patrols in efforts to make their neighbourhood safer.
With about 1,300 houses in the SS18 neighbourhood to watch over, the Residents Association has combined efforts with the four Kawasan Rukun Tetangga units (SS18/1; SS18/2; SS18/3 & SS18/4) to come up with a plan to engage a security services company for round-the-clock crime prevention patrols.
During the launch of the program recently, residents who showed up were told that a fee of RM50 would be required from each household on a monthly basis to sustain the service. Patrols had started at the beginning of August for a 3-month trial period.
The Residents Association will foot the bill for August while residents who sign up for the program will start paying RM50 for September and October during the trial period.
