Subang Jaya Lions Challenges Public with RM50k Matching Grant for Ambulance Service

Donate to the Subang Jaya Ambulance now and the Lions will match your donation Ringgit for Ringgit

THE Lions Club of Subang Jaya has pledged a whopping RM50,000 to kick start a one-to-one matching fund in aid of the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance fundraising campaign.

The initiative which is probably the first of its kind in Subang Jaya will see the Club match every Ringgit that is donated by the public to the community ambulance service up to the limit of RM50,000.

“This pledge will start from March 1 and will end when public donations from this date onwards touch the RM50,000 mark.”

“The Club believes that by doing so it would help the ambulance service raise more funds to sustain its crucial service to the community,” Lions Club of Subang Jaya medical aid fund chairman Dato’ Neoh Soo Keat said.

He said, “In a medical emergency, the first few minutes are most crucial. Having an ambulance nearby is the best solution to save lives and reduce injuries.”

Neoh added that for this reason, the club came out in support of the Subang Jaya Community Ambulance; to better protect the residents of this township.

“We also have hundreds of young Leo Club members in schools and universities around Subang Jaya whom along with their families, classmates and teachers will be better protected, by the presence of a nearby ambulance service.”

“It’s our duty to support this community ambulance. We urge everyone to chip in to keep the ambulance service going,” he said.

Last month, SJ Beacon, Subang Jaya Community Ambulance acting chairman TH Teoh had said that the service only had 6 months of funding to run on before it contemplates shutting down its service.

“We are running low on funds to operate our service which has saved lives across Subang Jaya. Our last fundraising effort was more than 3 years ago which helped us set up the unit and operate it.”

“Plans to organise a community fundraising event last year were aborted because of Covid-19. We are now left in the lurch on how to sustain the service beyond the next 6 months,” Teoh had said.
