Launches “From This to That” campaign and unveils Malaysia’s first food digester in shopping malls
Sunway Malls is taking its sustainability efforts up a notch with the nationwide launch of its “From This to That” campaign — an initiative aimed at promoting eco-conscious habits and highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Running from October 22 to November 9, the campaign features eco-friendly workshops and activities across several Sunway malls, including Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Velocity, Sunway Big Box, and Sunway Kluang. The initiative encourages shoppers to rethink waste through recycling, reusing, and reimagining materials in creative ways.
In conjunction with United Nations Day, Sunway Malls also announced its latest green investment — food digester machines that convert food waste into environmentally friendly greywater, reducing landfill waste. The first food digester, already operational at Sunway Velocity, will soon be installed at Sunway Pyramid and later at other malls under the group.

Sunway Malls’ sustainability leadership has also earned it a series of SIRIM certifications — including ISO 14001 for Environmental Management and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety. Notably, Sunway Pyramid became the first mall in Malaysia to achieve the prestigious SIRIM 55 ESG certification, setting a benchmark for sustainable retail practices.
Beyond certifications, the mall group has steadily built a reputation for integrating eco-innovation into everyday operations. From smart toilets and parking systems that reduce water and paper waste to rooftop solar panels, EV bike facilities, and rainwater harvesting systems — Sunway Malls continues to demonstrate environmental responsibility in action.
Partnerships with organisations like Kloth Cares further strengthen community participation, offering textile recycling bins and buy-back programmes that encourage sustainable shopping and lifestyle choices.
The “From This to That” campaign also features collaborations with eco-conscious brands such as Uniqlo, The Body Shop, Timberland, and Fipper, alongside weekend bazaars and upcycling workshops to inspire greener living. Shoppers who participate can redeem eco-friendly gifts and stand a chance to win prizes, including a pre-loved luxury bag worth RM16,000 in the Treasures & Treats Lucky Draw.
By blending sustainability with creativity and community involvement, Sunway Malls is transforming the shopping experience — one small, eco-friendly step at a time.
