SUSANA DEVI – STAYING HOME TO FIGHT COVID-19

It’s now 33 days since we’ve all stayed home in the joint efforts to fight Covid-19. The Movement Control Order which was first implemented on March 18 2020 has restricted our movement in a bid to bring down the curve of infection from the “invisible” virus.

Susana Devi is elated having the whole family under one roof during the MCO. She’s getting the opportunity to share more current topics with her three grown up boys and learning more new things about them. We bugged Susana for an insight into her home during the MCO. She tells us here:

How are you coping with the MCO? What are you doing to keep your time occupied?

Guess we (my husband and I are doing okay; we learnt to accept that this is for the betterment of my family and our fellow Malaysians. We have been working from home and also getting our contingency plan lined up for our business as it is badly affected due to this pandemic

Are you happy to get more time to spend with the family? Tell us how you are doing this?

Yes, I am happy to have my 3 young adult sons to be at home for more than 30 days. My husband and I try to engage with them more by talking about current economic issues and trends; and also their interest which we rarely get to do.

Have you found new hobbies while staying at home? Have you discovered you (or your spouse) can cook too?

Ironically, I can’t seem to find the time to venture into hobbies. There is always something to do. It’s either work related or housework related. Nope I have not discovered yet that my spouse can cook.

How are you keeping fit and alert at home? Have you gained weight?

We try to at least do alternate days home workouts. Usually its TABATA workouts from Youtube and also minimise our food intake since we are not running up and about. It’s just around the house. So we figured by reducing our food intake it should do us good. My guess is NO I did not put on weight. I hope not till the MCO is over.

How are you keeping abreast with the news on Covid-19 and MCO?

We tune in to our local national TV station or live stream on latest updates.

What’s your advise to everyone?

To all our fellow Malaysian “Keep Calm & Just Stay at Home”. I know it’s not easy but together we can do this. So let’s all stay safe.
