Subang Jaya police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the three local suspects, aged between 17 and 49, were detained following a police report lodged by the victim at 2.29 pm yesterday.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim and her daughter were living in the same house as all the suspects.
The main suspect is believed to be the victim’s aunt, while the other two suspects, aged 24 and 17, are cousins of the victim.
“The incident is believed to have involved the assault of the woman and physical abuse of her daughter,” he said in a statement today.
Wan Azlan said all three suspects have been remanded from today until Feb 6 to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect or abuse, and Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
“The investigation papers will be completed as soon as possible before being referred to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” he said, thanking the public for providing information on the incident.– BERNAMA
