It’s now 30 days since we’ve all stayed home in the joint efforts to fight Covid-19. The Movement Control Order which was first implemented on March 18 2020 has restricted our movement in a bid to bring down the curve of infection from the “invisible” virus.
We caught up with YB Ng Sze Han, Exco Selangor for Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development and asked him what he has been up to at home during the MCO. Here’s what he shares:
How are you coping with the MCO? What are you doing to keep your time occupied?
While most of the people are staying at home during the MCO, the Selangor state government hasn’t stopped working. There are still many meetings (physical or teleconferencing) and decision/ policy making that needs to be made. I have been keeping busy both at work and at home.
Are you happy to get more time to spend with the family? Tell us how you are doing this?
I do get to spend more time with my family during MCO, especially in the mornings and evenings. As an elected representative and Exco Selangor, I am used to receiving many invitations from associations, NGOs or government agencies for meetings and events. But for now, there are no invitation for the whole month.
Have you found new hobbies while staying at home? Have you discovered a new hobby?
It’s not really a new hobby. I just have more time to do what I enjoy doing such as gardening.
How are you keeping fit and alert at home? Have you gained weight?
Haha, this is very difficult challenge. However, taking care of 3 young children helps to burn a lot of calories. I get my exercise running after them.
How are you keeping abreast with the news on Covid-19 and MCO?
I get my updated news regularly from government agencies, news on social media and TV.
What’s your advise to everyone?
Stay at home and save the world. We shall win this battle together
