A 31-year-old male and a 26-year-old female suspect were arrested on February 12 2023 on suspicion of being involved in an armed robbery in USJ9 earlier in the day.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a CID team made the arrests in two separate raids in Klang and Kuala Langat and arrested the suspects.
“We seized a vehicle, two mobile phones, a Tab and other items during the raid. One of the items was a handbag from the burglary.”
“The suspects have been remanded and are being investigated for armed robbery in a group. We are investigating if they had been involved in other related crimes prior to this case,” he said in a statement, adding that a third suspect who was believed to be in the getaway car was still being sought.
Wan Azlan said on Feb 12, two suspects had gained access to a house in USJ9 and held up three occupants at 3.30am, threatening them harm with a machete.
“The male suspect had woken up the house owner in the bedroom and pointed a machete at the victim. The victim’s hands were tied with a mobile phone charger cable and led downstairs.”
“The house owner’s father was also threatened and tied up before being led downstairs. The female accomplice had tied up the domestic maid with a cable from an iron,” he said.
Wan Azlan said the suspects ransacked the house and carted away jewellery, mobile phones, and cash. The victims suffered a loss of RM7,000 from the robbery.
“Both suspects wore gloves and wore face masks. From investigations, one of the suspects had gained access by climbing the perimeter wall of the house before entering an open window on the first floor.”
“The forensic team carried out some sample swabbing at the crime scene and we are also checking if there are CCTV recordings of the incident,” he added.
Wan Azlan appealed for eye-witnesses or anyone who has information which can help in the case. He said they can contact Inspektor Anthony John A/L Sandanadas at 016-2093470.
