Teenager Faces RM300 Fine for Throwing Rubbish Out of Vehicle into River

A 19-year-old college student is being investigated by the police for throwing rubbish out of his vehicle into a river in Subang Jaya after a video of his actions went viral on a mainstream media TikTok platform recently.

Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the video which was recorded on Feb 9 2023 was detected by a Bandar Sunway policeman on Feb 10.

“The suspect who is a college student came forward in the evening on Feb 10 to help in investigations.”

“In the video, the male suspect was seen removing a bag from the boot of his vehicle before throwing it over the railing into the Sg Penaga. We have determined this happened at SS13/6,” he said.

Wan Azlan said the suspect admitted that he threw the garbage bag into the river which contained some food which had been used for prayers.

“We are investigating the case under Rule 52 Road Transport Rules 1959 for throwing rubbish out of a vehicle. The maximum fine is RM300.”

“We urge any witnesses to the incident to contact Inspector Mohamad Hamdan Jeramatin at 019-464 2222 to assist us in our investigations,” he added.
