THE driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) lost control and rammed into six people, killing two of them in an accident which occurred along Persiaran Kewajipan last night (October 30).
The accident which took place around 10pm at the intersection of Persiaran Kewajipan-Persiaran Murni-Persiaran Subang Permai in front of Da Men Mall claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman from Myanmar and a 45-year-old woman, according to Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Azman Shariat.
“The 20-year-old driver of the SUV was driving along Persiaran Kewajipan from the direction of USJ9 towards the Kelana-Subang Link. When he was approaching the traffic light junction near Da Men Mall he lost control of his vehicle, believed to have been caused by trying to avoid pedestrians crossing the road.”
“He landed up ramming into two motorcycles waiting to turn to Persiaran Subang Permai. There were 4 adults and a 3-year-old child on the 2 motorcycles,” he said, adding that a pedestrian was also hit by the car.
Azman said the 36-year-old woman was a passenger on one of the motorcycles. He said she died on the spot.
“Another passenger on the other motorcycle, a 45-year-old local woman passed away at the hospital from head injuries.”
“The other victims including the child suffered injuries,” he added.
Azman said police were investigating the case and studying the CCTV cameras at the junction to get to the bottom of the incident.
