Making Sure No One Goes Hungry in Subang Jaya

The poor and less fortunate have fortunately not being going hungry during the Movement Control Order thanks to the Lions Club of Subang Jaya.

The club started supplying 600 food packs daily for dinner for the poor and less fortunate in Subang Jaya. This has now been increased to 1,000 a day.

“We have served up more than 10,000 meals over two weeks since we started on March 25. The initiative will continue until the end of the MCO.”

“We started off providing food to the less fortunate at the low-cost flats in SS13, USJ16 Sri Tanjung and USJ1 Angsana. This has now expanded further to other areas in USJ and Bandar Sunway as well,” Lions Club Subang Jaya coordinator Adrian Lim said.

The initiative is a partnership between the Club, ADUN Subang Jaya’s Office, Subang Jaya Police and MPSJ. It also partnered with Sunway Malls through the mall’s Food for Thought programme to supply cooked meals from Sunway Pyramid.

“We didn’t want to see people who are the most likely to be hit by the MCO to go to bed hungry because they do not have money to buy provisions.”

“Our food packs will at least provide a meal for the children in the families affected by the MCO so that they don’t go hungry,” he said.

This mammoth task needs your assistance to keep it going beyond April 14 2020 to help individuals and families badly hit by the MCO to get up on their feet again.
