MYDIN Mohamed Holdings Berhad will be rolling out its “Mydin Prihatin” lorries to channel essential items to underprivileged families this upcoming Ramadan according to its managing director Dato Ameer Ali Mydin.
Essential food items and baju Raya will be among the items to be delivered to registered welfare homes which had been identified, the poor and underprivileged urban families.
“By doing this, we hope to bring some cheer to the targeted groups and make their Ramadan and Hari Raya more meaningful,” Dato Ameer said during the launch of Mydin Prihatin Girang Syawal Tiba campaign by Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Seri Rina Harun at Mydin Mall in USJ1 recently.
The campaign which go on until May 1st targets to raise RM100,000 and the funds will be channeled to help 1,000 families. Participating brands have also pledged merchandise for the campaign. A sum ranging from 5 sen to 50 sen for selected items from the participating merchants will be channeled to the Mydin Prihatin fund for this purpose.
Mydin also launched its Food Bank Mydin Prihatin which will be placed at 27 Mydin outlets across the country. According to Dato Ameer, the Food Bank will provide a platform for members of the public to donate dry sundries for the needy. Items collected will be donated to different registered welfare homes monthly.
At the event, Mydin also launched its “MyDebit dan Menang” campaign which has prizes worth RM200,000 up for grab. Shoppers who pay with their ATM cards with a minimum purchase of RM80 in a single receipt stand a chance to win prizes. Fifty lucky shoppers will also get a chance to win RM500 worth of groceries monthly for six months. For weekly prizes, 500 lucky shoppers will get to win Mydin Cash Vouchers worth RM150. The campaign goes on until June 6 2021.
