APPALLED by the dirty conditions of the SS19/6 commercial area, a group of residents took to the streets to clean up the rubbish that’s strewn indiscriminately along road shoulders and drains.
Residents were joined by members of MBSJ MPP Zon 1 led by councillor Ken Chia. The volunteers spent the morning picking up rubbish from the road shoulders, drains and also swept up leaf litter along one block of the commercial row.
Determined to make a significant difference, some elderly residents even bent down into the drains to pick up debris and clear the rubbish that appeared to have been left there for a long period of time.
After almost two-hours at it, volunteers called it a day but not before promising to organize another gotong-royong if the condition doesn’t improve.
