RM7mil Drug Bust Unfolds After Mysterious Crash in Subang Jaya

SUBANG JAYA, August 22 2025 – A quiet Wednesday morning along Persiaran Tujuan turned into the scene of a high-stakes drug bust when a Honda Civic crashed near SS17, setting off a chain of events that read like a crime thriller.

When Subang Jaya police responded to calls about an abandoned car which had crashed on the roadside, they expected a routine accident. Instead, what they found inside the vehicle left even seasoned officers stunned.

The driver was gone. There was no trace of him; just the faint smell of rubber and the eerie stillness of an empty car. But what lay within told a different story.

“Upon closer examination, our team discovered four gunny sacks in the back seat of the car, stuffed with 78 neatly packed ‘Chinese Tea’ pouches,” Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said at a press conference.

Then came the real shocker: seven more sacks in the boot with 130 additional packs. Total haul? A staggering 220.16 kilograms of syahbu—methamphetamine—worth an estimated RM7 million on the street. Enough to fuel 200,000 addictions.

But who was behind the wheel of this drug-laden vehicle? Inside the car, police discovered a MyKad belonging to Mohd Rahmat bin Hanafi, 32, from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan. A name with a history—six criminal records, nine drug-related offences, and now, a nationwide manhunt on his tail.

“He ran after the crash. We’ve checked his address. He’s not there,” Wan Azlan revealed grimly. To make matters worse, the vehicle’s license plates were fake, raising questions about just how deep this operation goes.

Where was the car headed? Who supplied the drugs? And how did this massive consignment end up abandoned on a suburban road? Investigators are racing against time to uncover the answers.

Police urge anyone with information to contact Inspector Mohamad Saifullah Rosdi at 017-906 5674 or the nearest police station.

For now, one thing is clear—somewhere out there, a man is on the run, and RM7 million worth of poison almost made it to our streets.
