Sunway Square Mall has marked a new milestone by positioning itself as Sunway City’s first pet friendly shopping mall, formally opening its doors to visitors who wish to shop and socialise with their pets.
A newly installed notice at the mall sets out clear house rules designed to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for all. Pets must be placed in strollers or carriers at all times, with owners required to use designated pet lifts when moving between floors. Pets must be supervised and kept secure throughout the visit.
The mall also places strong emphasis on cleanliness and shared space etiquette. Pet owners are reminded to maintain their pets hygiene, avoid blocking walkways or entrances with strollers, and keep interactions with other shoppers controlled. Pets that are aggressive or excessively noisy may be asked to leave. Entry into individual retail outlets remains subject to each store’s own pet policy.
Beyond access, Sunway Square Mall is positioning itself as a pet inclusive lifestyle destination. Planned activities include Doga sessions or yoga with dogs, foam pawty play events, pet spa services, pet photo booths and pet workshops. Visitors can scan a QR code displayed at the mall or follow its social media platforms for updates on upcoming events and full terms and conditions.
The move reflects a growing recognition of pets as part of urban family life, particularly among younger city dwellers. By pairing clear regulations with curated pet focused experiences, Sunway Square Mall is setting a precedent for how shared public spaces in Sunway City can evolve to be more inclusive while remaining orderly and safe.
As the first mall in Sunway City to adopt a pet friendly concept, Sunway Square Mall is likely to draw interest from pet owners across the township, and potentially influence how future commercial spaces respond to changing lifestyle expectations.
