Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the Melaka trees would be planted in several places in the capital in line with the Kuala Lumpur Low Carbon Society 2030 campaign.
“For today’s tree planting programme, two of the trees will be planted in Jalan Melaka while the remaining will be planted at the Perdana Botanical Gardens, Taman Metropolitan Batu, Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi and the DBKL Nursery,” he said at the tree planting ceremony in Jalan Melaka here, today.
Also present were Melaka Historical City Mayor Mansor Sudin and Melaka Housing , Local Government, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Tey Kok Kiew.
Meanwhile, Mansor said the catalyst for the partnership was the friendship between MBMB and DBKL over the last 30 years.
He added that the cooperation between the two local councils thus far resulted in various positive benefits, among others MBMB has learned the aspects of governance, enforcement, engineering, traffic management and green technology from DBKL.
