SUBANG JAYA will finally get its own Klinik Kesihatan in USJ1 by 2028.
The latest update provided a detailed report from the Public Works Department (JKR) which was jointly shared by Subang MP Wong Chen and incumbent ADUN Subang Jaya Michelle Ng to SJ Echo.
According to Wong Chen, the construction of the RM50mil Klinik Kesihatan (Jenis 2) will commence once it gets the approval of the Health Ministry and local authorities.
“Once the project gets the final green light, construction is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2024. It will take about three years to complete the construction according to the latest report we received from JKR.”
“The Klinik Kesihatan will be built on a 4.238-acre (17,140 sq m) land in USJ1, approximately the size of two football fields. Once operational, it will have the capacity to attend to 500-800 patients at any given time,” he said.
“The facility will offer a range of services, including outpatient and emergency departments, a pharmacy with a drive-thru facility, imaging services, maternal and child health care, pathology, dental services, and rehabilitation departments.”
“Moreover, it will have 160 parking bays for vehicles, including designated bays for persons with disabilities (OKU) and 31 bays for motorcycles. Additionally, the new facility will be equipped with a garage for five ambulances,” Michelle said.
The efforts to establish this health clinic for the community have been ongoing for over a decade, starting during the tenure of former ADUN Subang Jaya Dato Lee Hwa Beng, continued through former ADUN Subang Jaya Hannah Yeoh’s term, and are now being led by Wong Chen and Michelle Ng.
“We have been campaigning for this clinic for 12 years, so it is so good to finally have a confirmation from the government that the project will begin next year. The construction may take up to 3 years, so hopefully we should be able to have the clinic operational by 2028 the latest. This clinic is essential for the ageing population of Subang,” Wong Chen added.
Michelle in earlier reports had said that, “Klinik Kesihatan-s are not shop lot clinics with one or two general practitioners and staff nurse. It is akin to a small hospital with widely needed services such as outpatient, accident and emergency, dental, maternity, x-ray, labs, pharmacies, rehab and some may even have sick bays.”
“Furthermore, Klinik Kesihatan-s have lower price points. At present, at RM1. This, coupled with the scope of services provided makes healthcare accessible to vulnerable communities – and such is its purpose,” she added.
