The Year of You

By Paul Yung

Happy New Year!

It’s that time of the year again for resolutions, that time again to make decisions that will set the course for the year. I love this time of year because it reminds me that we have the power to take control of our lives and influence our environment!

So, as we welcome 2024, let’s use this New Year energy surge to seize the year, take control of our lives and have our best year yet. Here are 8 ideas that I will be embracing this year to do just that.

*1. Let’s Unplug Together:*

This year, I’m challenging myself to step away from the screen more often. Let’s get real, life isn’t as perfect as it looks on Instagram, and I want to experience more of the real moments that matter. Does anyone actually rewatch the videos they took at a birthday party?

*2. Our Financial Health:*

It’s not just about saving pennies but making wise decisions that will pay off in the long run. As unrelenting inflation continues, I’m reminded that it’s easier to make RM 10,000 than to save RM 10,000 and that will be my financial guiding principle for 2024.

*3. Embracing Growth and Change:*

My mentor always says that there are no problems, only challenges that are actually opportunities in disguise. This year, let’s embrace every setback as a chance to grow. I’m excited to see where this mindset will take us both.

*4. The Power of Connections:*

I’ve always believed in the magic of strong relationships. Whether it’s a heartfelt introduction or a meaningful conversation, I want to invest more in the people around me and build real connections, not superficial networks.

*5. A Commitment to Health:*

I’ve started scheduling regular exercise into my routine. You know how gyms will fill up this time of year? Most of it will be empty again post CNY, so instead of making sweeping declarations, I’ve decided to take small, regular steps instead. It’s amazing how a little discipline in taking care of our bodies can make such a big difference in how we feel.

*6. A Minute for Ourselves:*

I’ve realized the importance of taking a minute to just breathe and reflect. Whether it’s perfecting a task or cherishing a moment with a loved one, these pauses can be transformative.

*7. Risk-Taking and Learning:*

This year, I want to be braver in taking risks. It’s through these experiences that we learn and grow. The idea is this, if we fear rejection we are in fact, rejecting ourselves. You miss every shot you don’t take, so let’s try something new first and figure out the art of perfecting later.

*8. Crafting Our Legacy:*

Finally, I’ve been thinking about the legacy I want to leave. It’s not about wealth or fame, but the kindness and compassion we show to others. What will people say about us when we’re not in the room? Now that’s some food for thought to start 2024.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey. Let’s make 2024 a year of growth, connection, and purpose. Here’s to a year where we make every moment count!

Here’s to the year for the most important person in the world, you! So let’s make 2024, the year of you.
