SHAH ALAM, July 9 (Bernama) — All 12 local authorities (PBT) in Selangor, for the first time, have achieved five-star rating by the Local Authorities Star-Rating System (SPB-PBT) conducted nationwide last year.
The 12 local authorities are Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj), Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS), Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), Klang Municipal Council (MPK), Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL), Sepang Municipal Council (MPSp), Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) and Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB).
Selangor Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman, Ng Sze Han said the achievement was considered to be very good compared to the assessment in 2016 where only 10 of these were rated five stars while the other two were given four stars.
“I hope all the state’s local authorities will maintain this good record in future as it reflects their excellent service delivery. This rating is important to ensure they are really serious in serving the people,” he said in his speech at the presentation of rating certificates to the 12 local authorities, here, today.
On another development, he said the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) system introduced in seven local authority areas in July last year could now be used for paying parking fees in the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) jurisdiction area.
“In addition, the SSP can also be used at the gated parking area or on-street parking spots at two Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations, namely the Paramount and Asia Jaya stations, as well as Kelana Jaya Stadium car park and Atria traders’ stalls in Petaling Jaya.
“Off-street parking is privately owned and we work together to make it easier for the people. At the same time, we are working to extend the SSP system to other gated car park areas in the future, ” he said.
Ng added that to further promote the SSP system, the state government was offering a special promotion of RM1 for each credit purchase of RM50 to RM99 and an additional RM3 for each purchase of RM100 credit value.
He said the promotion would be for a month from today until Aug 9.– BERNAMA
